Intermediate

In fly fishing, there are times when you need a floating line. At other times, nothing else will do but a sinking fly line. But sometimes you have to get something in between. That's when an intermediate fly line comes into play. At TackleDirect, we carry an assortment of intermediate fly-fishing lines so you can handle all fishing situations.

Intermediate fly lines come into their own on lakes and rivers and in fact in any environment where you want a slow-sinking line. Sinking at a rate of about 11/2 to 2 inches a second, these lines are ideal for keeping your fly above the weeds in a thickly vegetated pond or lake. In a river, bay or ocean, use an intermediate fly line when you are targeting fish in the middle of the water column. Try it, for instance, on those stripers that are lurking just below that school of bluefish busting on the surface.
